Tips for Presenters

Better Outcomes

The platform deployed for the seminars, Meetn.com, got a major upgrade in June 2026.

  • The URL does not change: https://Meetn.com/wafsu
  • We can deploy a waiting room with Meetn.com.
  • We can turn off the microphones and screens of visitors with Meetn.com.
  • We can easily show videos once they are uploaded in advance.
  • We can share downloads once they are uploaded in advance.

Tips:

Slides should fill the entire screen.

Do not use vertical, document layout. Stick to a horizontal slide format. And, do one slide per screen.

Present off of a computer, not a phone.

Phone screen sizes are small. You'll want to see what is going on with the slides too.

Present from a quiet setting without background noise.

Perhaps it would be good to use a headset.

You need to be where there is fast internet that won't drop its wifi.

Once the connection from the presenter drops more than thee times, the audience is going to check out too.

Slower Connections

When on a slower connection, clicking to a video or a slide from the widgets might show your computer a grey spinning ball -- waiting to load type of error. Fear not. Others can see what is being displayed. The content is also being recorded for the video used for reply. Do not panic. Do keep plugging on with the presentation.

Guarded Words

Avoid anything political or comments you might wish to retract later. Edits after the content is published is very complicated and difficult. Best policy, don't say things you'll wish to retract.

Screen of Slides -- or full-on view of the speaker

Great slides are wonderful. Show the slide, but when an extended period of conversation or discussion happens, let's jump off of the slide and into a full-faced view. When a slide is being shown, the speaker's face is the size of a postage stamp on the corner of the screen. We want to see the speaker more when there are extended seconds in the presentation. Hide the slide when possible.

Look for the content icon in the bottom of the screen.

See the white clapperboard icon or movie slate icon in the middle of the bottom of the screen. It turns to the white color when the mouse clicks there. Click the "content icon" and then the content sidebar appears.

The content sidebar shows on the right side of the screen and has different tabs that reveal different controls. People - or - Chat - or - Content.

Content sidebar

Notice three different areas.

  1. The content side bar allows you to choose a slide presentation that was uploaded prior.
  2. The buttons to advance the slides has forward and back buttons on the bottom of the slide.
  3. The control that shows the clapperboard icon to lead to opening the content sidebar.

These are the areas of the screen where speakers can be in control of the meeting.

Ugly Past with Other Platforms

  • When WAFSU.org used Google Meet, a few came to share pornography. With Google Meet vile attacks are possible.
  • Past meetings with Google meet were stop and start with time limits and relaunching between speakers and meetings.
  • With Meetn.com/wafsu we have multiple hosts who can help run a meeting and that isn't the case with Google Meet.
