Submitted by Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU)
Secretary General
For consideration by UCSSC Sports Management Services (UCSMC)
Chairman: Mr. Dennis Antonio Cordero
1. Introduction
The Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) presents its compliments to UCSSC Sports Management Services (UCSMC) and appreciates the continued commitment of the organization towards strengthening global sports development through education, professional training, and capacity building.
FASU recognizes that the development of competent, ethical, and professionally trained coaches is fundamental to achieving sustainable sports excellence within university sport and the broader African sports ecosystem.
In this regard, FASU is pleased to propose a strategic partnership with UCSSC Sports Management Services to provide free online coaching courses, educational seminars, and professional development opportunities for coaches, sports administrators, athletes, and stakeholders within FASU member institutions across Africa.
This initiative aligns with the vision of both organizations to use education as a tool for empowerment, leadership development, and the advancement of sport at all levels.
2. Background of the Initiative
Following several constructive interactions between the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Secretary General and the Chairman of UCSSC & UCSMC, Mr. Dennis Antonio Cordero, regarding his vision for advancing global coaching education, a shared commitment emerged to strengthen the standards of sports coaching and development across Africa.
Equally inspiring has been Mr. Cordero’s passion for supporting the growth and professionalization of sport in Africa. His commitment to making quality coaching education accessible to coaches, athletes, clubs, academies, and sports organizations aligns closely with FASU’s strategic objective of developing the capacity of coaches and sports administrators within its member institutions.
These shared values and complementary objectives have inspired this proposal for a strategic partnership that will provide free online coaching courses, educational seminars, and professional development opportunities to the African university sports. Through this collaboration, both organizations seek to empower coaches with the knowledge, skills, and international exposure necessary to raise the quality of coaching and athlete development across the continent.
Together, FASU and UCSMC aspire to build a culture of continuous learning, leadership, and excellence that will contribute to the sustainable development of university sport and the wider sports movement in Africa. The programme reflects a shared commitment to developing world-class coaches through:
